Teaching in School Preparation

Tomorrow morning, Abby and I will be teaching in Mounds Park Academy. We are very excited to get started. Because the school does not have a lot of gardening equipment, Abby and I will be preparing flats here at the U, and then bring those to the school for the students to plant microgreens. We hope to simply set the stage for the students for our first trip. We would like to talk about the essentials needed in order to plant. We will talk also about germination and the facets involved with this. Once they plant their microgreens, we hope to track them over the weeks and, eventually, have the students eat them with some snacks. At this point, we can talk about the great nutritional value that these small plants can bring. We are excited for our first day at the school, and we can't wait to report how it all goes to you all tomorrow!
